How do you make money online really?

While I am looking for a job, I really need to find work that I can do on the side. Ideally, I would like to work from home so that I can continue my job search pretty much full time. I know people make money online, can that be built into a real job quickly, like with a blog? Can people make money online really?

You have to be focused and smart about it!

Yes, people do make money online. But you have to be extremely focused and smart about how you build your business. However, there is so much hype and conflicting information about building a business online--no wonder you're confused.

Here is the simplest, yet most complete overview I have ever found about how to start an online business that will actually be successful. It's the same system we used to build this site. I would definitely recommend it over starting a blog if you want to build a business.

However, if your goal is to market yourself, a blog is fine. Keep those two things separate.

Time between jobs is a great time to start a second business. You may even want to consider combining a more traditional business with an online business for a 1-2 punch. If you haven't already checked out our list of more than 100 ways to make money, take a look to see if something inspires you.
